Peace and Security
At Pate Marine Community Conservancy (PMCC), peace and security are essential to the well-being of our community and the conservation of our unique coastal ecosystem. Here’s an in-depth look at our peace and security efforts:
Equipment and Training
PMCC has invested in the necessary equipment for safeguarding our community and environment. This includes two patrol boats, three motorbikes, snorkeling gear, digital cameras, and first aid kits.
Rangers and Outposts
To ensure the safety and security of our community and marine environment, we have established rangers and outposts. These dedicated individuals work tirelessly to protect our conservancy.
Digital Radio Communication
We’ve installed a digital radio communication system to enable effective and efficient communication among our team members. This system enhances coordination and response in the event of emergencies.
Marine Conservancy Management Monitoring System (Marine-CoMMs)
PMCC employs the cutting-edge Marine-CoMMs to monitor and manage our marine resources. This innovative system enhances our ability to protect the environment and respond to security concerns swiftly.
Training and Development
Rangers receive training at the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) School of Training in Manyani. This includes instruction in the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other essential skills for marine security.
