Governance

At Pate Marine Community Conservancy (PMCC), good governance is at the heart of our mission. We believe that sound governance practices are essential to ensure the equitable distribution of resources and the effective management of our conservancy. Here’s a closer look at our governance services:

Pate -Equal Resourse Distribution (1)

Equal Representation and Resource Distribution

PMCC is committed to fostering equal representation and resource distribution among our community members. We believe that the benefits of our conservancy should be shared fairly, ensuring that every voice is heard, and every need is addressed.

Pate - Training (1)

Empowering through Training

We invest in our leaders and board members through comprehensive training programs. The Leadership & Management Program (LAMP) equips women leaders and board members with the skills and knowledge needed to guide our conservancy effectively.

Pate - Building Partnerships (1)

Building Strategic Partnerships

PMCC recognizes the importance of collaboration. We’ve forged strong partnerships with organizations like the Nature Conservancy (TNC), Fauna & Flora International (FFI), and the Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT), among others. These alliances enable us to leverage expertise, resources, and support to drive our mission forward.

Ensuring Sustainable Fisheries Management

PMCC has secured ownership and rights to sustainably manage our fisheries resources. This includes the implementation of fisheries by-laws and registration certificates for all 10 Beach Management Units (BMUs) in Pate. These measures help protect our vital fisheries while ensuring they remain a sustainable source of livelihood.

Ensuring Sustainable Fisheries Management:

To support our growing conservancy, we’ve invested in infrastructure development. Our headquarters, outposts, and Community Development Plan lay out priorities and a clear roadmap for our next decade (2021 – 2030). These infrastructural improvements enhance our operational capabilities and efficiency.
